The Ward Family Heart Center at Childrens Mercy Hospital Kansas City is seeking an Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) pediatric cardiologist to provide service to our growing adult congenital patient population and collaborate with our Kansas adult partner institution. The successful candidate would join an existing group of 46 cardiologists (41 in Kansas City 2 in Springfield MO 2 in Wichita KS and 1 in Topeka KS) 4 CV surgeons and over 30 APNs.
Our Heart Center serves a population of over 5 million in the heart of the U.S.A. We perform over 500 cardiac operations 600 cardiac catheterizations including over 200 invasive EP procedures 18000 outpatient visits and more than 20000 echocardiograms annually. Our two stateoftheart catheterization labs are both hybrid labs and equipped with the latest 3D imaging and EP technology. Telehealth is regularly used to provide care to our families in the region. Our ACHD program provides support to two adult hospital partners in the Kansas City Metro. Our program is nationally recognized for our innovative transition program and passport. Our Missouri partnership is ACHA accredited and our Kansas partnership is seeking accreditation this year. Our ACHD staff currently is comprised of 2 physicians 1 APRN and 1 program manager.
Our Kansas Citybased superspecialty resources include Electrophysiology (which includes Clinical EP pacing and Genetic Arrhythmia) Cardiac Transplantation/Heart Failure Interventional Cardiology and Advanced Cardiac Imaging (fetal echo 3D echo transesophageal echo CT MRI and 3D printing). We also provide specialized teambased care in Fetal Cardiology (with onsite delivery services for highrisk neonates in Kansas City) Interstage Monitoring (CHAMP) Preventive Cardiology Cardiac Genetics Cardiooncology Single Ventricle Survivorship Pulmonary Hypertension a dedicated POTS clinic and Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Services. In 2022 the Ward Family Heart Center program was ranked # 19 nationally by USNWR.
Board eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology is required. A history of a formal ACHD fellowship and board eligibility for ACHD is preferred. Strong communication and collaborative skills are key. There are opportunities for clinical research and teaching medical students residents and fellows. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience.
