Our childrens hospital in San Francisco has a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) devoted to providing the most advanced care available to critically ill infants. As a certified level IV regional NICUs we are capable of providing all levels of newborn care from basic to most intensive and draw patients from across the region. Our San Francisco location the William H. Tooley Intensive Care Nursery was among the first NICUs in the world. UCSF has one of the top childrens hospitals in the nation ranked #7 in Neonatology by U.S. News & World Report in 2025.
The Nurse Practitioner will act as a member of the care team taking primary responsibility for the safe delivery of care for inpatient newborns and infants. This team member will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Division Chief performing any duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $95.73 $124.22 (Hourly Rate).

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 6090 days but can vary.

UCSF Benioff Childrens Hospital is recognized throughout the world as a leader in health care known for innovation technology and compassionate care. UCSF has one of the top childrens hospitals in the nation ranked #7 in Neonatology by U.S. News & World Report in 2025. Our 180bed UCSF Benioff Childrens Hospital has more than 150 specialists in more than 40 areas of medicine.
The Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) was founded in 1964 and pioneered fetal surgery and is a 58bed unit that provides care forcritically ill newbornsand infants. The ICN has the expertise to treat the smallest sickest and most fragile babies needing surgery for heart lung gastrointestinal and other lifethreatening conditions. Our neonatal heart program is one of the largest in the country treating almost 200 newborns with heart disease each year. The ICN is a Regional Intensive Care Nursery and works with a network of 24 hospitals in Northern California to provide neonatology care.
