Working on behalf of the PreCollege Summer Program Office PreCollege Instructors will develop and lead one twoweek noncredit course for high school students. Courses are centered around academic themes; faculty are encouraged to develop interdisciplinary programs that speak to their own teaching and research interests feature themes that will interest prospective students and draw on the LMU Strategic Plans charge to form leaders who transform the world. Faculty will report to the Manager of Summer Programs and are responsible for creating and presenting lectures and presentations planning course related field trips and overseeing class discussions and student projects. Position may require night and weekend responsibilities while class is in session.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Direct responsibility for developing curriculum for the academic precollege program.
- Host lectures discussions panelists labs field work and other instructional sessions crucial to the success of the precollege program.
- Confront students who impose upon community standards and violate Summer Program and/or University policies.
- Document incidents and policy violations in a timely manner and immediately bring them to the attention of the Manager of Summer Programs.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining a positive and safe environment in the classroom for students and staff. Respond to emergencies and crisis situations as they occur.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Experience Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in working with high school students.
- Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral). Must be able to communicate both constructively and effectively.
- Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of the Microsoft Office package including Word Excel Outlook and Powerpoint and the Zoom web conferencing platform.
- Typically a Masters or Ph.D. in field they are teaching or relevant experience in their industry.
