The Monitoring Technician is responsible for ongoing surveillance of patient cardiac monitors including rhythm interpretation documenting of patient information according to protocol and providing RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. The result of successful performance in this position contributes significantly to the overall wellbeing of the patient.

Maintains ongoing highlevel surveillance of patients cardiac rhythms and notifies nursing/clinicians of any rate/rhythm changes according to clinician/provider orders. Measures and interprets patients heart rhythm and documents on patient record per departmental standards. May initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission transfer or discharge. Performs configuration as necessary. Performs clerical duties related to admission discharge and documentation of patient information from Central Telemetry. Answers telephone and communicates clearly when receiving information from units or providers. Uses clear and complete communication with unit personnel when delivering information about changes in patient rhythm.
Education: Must be at least 16 years of age. High school diploma/equivalent or in a high school/equivalent program. Able to read write comprehend and speak fluent English
Experience: Experience in telemetry monitoring preferred but not required. Classes and training available.
License(s)/Certification(s): Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for workrelated reasons.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Multicultural sensitivity. Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional educational and diverse lifestyle backgrounds. Customer/Patient focus. Microsoft Officebasic computer skills.
