Position Classification:
Temporary parttime hourly and nonexempt staff position.
General Schedule:
Classes are held Monday Wednesday between 8 4pm. Each instructor will work up to 10 hours per week.
Please Note: This is a temporary part time positionfor the summer last working day summer instructors will be at the conclusion of the summer program on July 16 2025.
Position Overview & Job Duties:
Upward Bound Math Science Instructors are responsible for providing instruction to collegebound high school students in specific tops/content areas during the oncampus sixweek summer session. Currently needed subjects: Foreign Language and Math. The instructorwill develop curriculum materials and implement a course of instruction in the specialty area which provides students with the opportunity to enhance their academic skills necessary to successfully complete high school matriculate through a postsecondary institution and graduate.
- Prepare a syllabus curriculum activities/assignments and assessments for subject areas.
- Prepare for and meet classes as assigned and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Participate in inservice training sessions as scheduled.
- Evaluate and prepare reports of ongoing student progress.
- Complete student assessment forms.
- Request and assist in maintaining department equipment supplies and materials.
- Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices to provide injury and illness prevention for self and others.
- Participate in endofprogram achievement awards reception.
- Assume other duties as requested by the supervisor.
- Present awards and certifications at the End of Summer Awards Banquet.
QualificationsRequired:
Completion of a bachelors degree in education or subject area at least one (1) year of teaching experience at the high school level or equivalent combination of education and experience.
QualificationsPreferred:
Previous TRIO of best practices in to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans to high school students preparing for college Experience with inquirybased handson learning experiences. Experience working with youth from diverse to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse (Spanish) highly preferred.
