The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting for an Information Officer 1 located in Anchorage!

What you will be doing:
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting for an exciting full time permanent Fish and Game Information Officer 1 position in the Anchorage Wildlife Information Center. This position is responsible for assisting in the daytoday operations of the Wildlife Information Center including serving as the team leader and assisting in the training and advising of the Fish and Wildlife Technician 3 positions. In addition this position will oversee the distribution of information to hunters and nonconsumptive users pertaining to the management areas throughout Alaska and will coordinate with Division of Wildlife Conservation area managers to provide the public with accurate and up to date hunting information.

  • Provide information and services to the public about wildlife hunting and trapping in Region 2.
  • Respond to public inquiries and reports of humanwildlife interactions or injured wildlife.
  • Enforcing fish and game statutes and regulations
  • Serve as the Regional Sealing Officer and Hide and Horn Coordinator.
  • Organize and present data for reports compile information perform basic statistical computations write simple reports.
  • Conduct fieldwork and assist on research projects to better understand and inform the public on the happenings of the department.

Thousands of public inquiries are handled each year by this position and the Information Center Team. Outreach activities and promoting factual information about resource uses are key points.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located at the Fish and Game office in Anchorage with occasional travel required for fieldwork or to assist in other offices or as the regional representative on statewide committees. Primary responsibilities include serving as a team leader for two Fish & Wildlife Technician 3s and other seasonal staff. Primary job duties include directing the activities of the Information Center answering public questions inperson by email and by phone and sealing harvested wildlife. This position will also assist with conducting aerial surveys or other field projects as needed. Daily use of electronic databases and strong attention to detail is required.
