Job Responsibilities

Application Developer
The Department of Administrations Division of Enterprise Applications is seeking an Application Developer to join our team. We are in growth mode and it is an exciting time to be a contributing member to a team that maintains the SC Enterprise Information System (SCEIS)! SCEIS is the backbone of our business processes and ultimately empowers decision makers to improve government for the citizens. In this role you will be a participating member of our Development Team providing solutions to address business needs. You will work with full stack cloudhosted web applications eventdriven and REST API integrations observability platform and data lake automation and customizations within thirdparty applications such as SAP in a polyglot distributed environment.

Responsibilities of the Application Developer:
  • Work with architecture product and service owners and the development team to clarify work item functional and nonfunctional requirements.
  • Complete all work which involves engineering solutions for implementing business requirements per design specifications including build and deployment pipeline developmentconfiguration automated testing and observability.
  • Participate in sprint retrospective meetings to address team and development process inefficiencies.
  • Perform peer code reviews to ensure the quality readability and maintainability of code and other codingengineering standards.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A bachelors degree in computer science information technology or a related technical field and 1 year of experience in cloudbased software development. Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelors degree on a yearforyear basis.
Additional Requirements:
  • Basic understanding of cloudnative serverless and containerized application development in Azure andor AWS.
  • Basic understanding of SOLID design principles and common architectures such as EventDriven ScheduleBased Microservices Data Lake and Data Warehouse architectures.
  • Familiar with common SQL based and document database technologies.
  • General understanding of Infrastructure as Code programming languages and tools such as Terraform Bicep or CloudFormation.
  • Experience working in an agile framework such as Scrum.
  • Experience using modern source control and project management tools and services such as Github GitLab Jira or Azure DevOps.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following objectoriented programming languages: Java Python Javascript C# (Java and Python is preferred).
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP is preferred but not necessarily required.
