Job Description

The Digital Business Division (DBD) has been established to bring together the retail digital functions from the Digital Trade Initiatives Biosecurity Digital Reform Branch along with the Digital and Analytics Office within the Agricultural Trade Group. The purpose is to create a range of efficiencies in delivering best in class digital and data products. The division is responsible for a suite of missioncritical systems and services.

Incorporating the Taking Farmers to Market (TFTM) and the Simplified Targeting and Enhanced Processing System (STEPS) programs. The division s purpose is to deliver the important digital business and service reforms for the Department. DBD is at the forefront of bringing about largescale change to our agricultural export systems and biosecurity cargo clearance systems using the experience of our customers and stakeholders through digital transformation. DBD s work is a departmental ministerial and Australian Government priority which will continue to support Australia economic recovery from COVID19.

Requirements

Key duties and responsibilities

To support this effort we are seeking multiple Software Developers across a range of technology stacks and disciplines. These roles are vital in continuing to build maintain and enhancing missioncritical export & import systems used by millions of Australians.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for developers with experience in one or more of the following areas:

Languages/Frameworks:

C C# .NET Core / .NET Framework

Java / Spring Boot

JavaScript / TypeScript

React Angular or similar modern frontend frameworks

Preferred Skills:

RESTful API development and integration

Microservices and containerisation (e.g. Docker Kubernetes)

Cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure or GovCloud environments)

Agile methodologies (Scrum Kanban) and DevOps practices

Version control using Git/GitHub/GitLab

Automated testing and CI/CD pipelines

Key Attributes:

Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related discipline

Previous experience working on largescale or government digital transformation initiatives

Strong analytical and problemsolving skills

Ability to work in a collaborative fastpaced and securityconscious environment

Familiarity with government digital service standards and accessibility guidelines (e.g. WCAG)

3. Strong analytical and problemsolving skills

4. Ability to work in a collaborative fastpaced and securityconscious environment

Essential criteria 1. A track record of delivering technology products in large organisations 2. A demonstrated understanding of what makes for a great developer experience for external users 3. Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams that follow agile and user-centred design practices 4. Experience working on large Government transformation programs highly regarded Desirable criteria 1. Knowledge, experience of, and relationships with the agriculture technology industry 2. Delivery of technology to support regulatory decision-making processes 3. Experience delivering to the Australian Government Digital Service Standard
