Job Summary:
The Meter Technician will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and reliable metering for our members. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing maintaining testing and troubleshooting electric meters and related equipment. You will ensure all meters function properly providing accurate billing and monitoring for our members. The role requires attention to detail technical expertise and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation of AMI Systems:
- Install configure and program AMI meters and communication systems.
- Ensure proper setup of meters and related equipment for seamless communication with the utilitys network.
- Perform system checks to verify functionality and accuracy of meters.
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of meters and AMI devices.
- Troubleshoot and repair defective or malfunctioning meters or communication devices.
- Replace or upgrade equipment as necessary to maintain system integrity and performance.
- Data Collection & Transmission:
- Ensure the proper transmission of meter readings to the utilitys central data management system.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of collected data.
- Work with IT and systems teams to ensure continuous operation of data collection systems.
- Member Interaction:
- Interact with members to troubleshoot issues related to smart meters ensuring effective communication and problemsolving.
- Explain to members how their metering system works and assist with any questions or concerns.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Adhere to safety standards regulatory requirements and company policies during the installation and maintenance of metering systems.
- Document and report work activities including service orders meter readings and any issues encountered.
- Submit service reports maintenance logs and other required documentation.
- System Monitoring:
- Monitor network and meter health identifying potential issues with the metering systems.
- Collaborate with technical teams to resolve software or hardware issues affecting the meter data collection or transmission process.
- Training and Support:
- Stay updated with industry trends tools and technologies.
Qualifications :
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of electrical systems AMI technology smart meters and communication networks.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues with metering systems and related equipment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with members and team members.
- Customer Service: Ability to deliver exceptional customer service and manage customer relations effectively.
- Safety and Compliance: Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to follow industry best practices and standards.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of installations maintenance and data collection.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in varying weather conditions climb ladders and carry equipment as needed.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in electrical electronic or mechanical systems preferred.
- Certification in AMI technology or metering systems is a plus.
