The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense & Space (BDS) is looking for Midlevel or Senior Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Engineer to join our team in Oklahoma City OK.
Along with supporting the aforementioned space commercial and defense programs the team provides supplier standup/certification fabrication support/troubleshooting and fleet support activities across the Boeing value stream. The team also conducts NDE research and development for both internal and external customers. Our team is located in three cities: Huntsville AL; Oklahoma City OK; and St. Louis MO. The chosen candidate will support the Oklahoma City location.
The Midwest Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) and Fleet Support team is part of the BDS Engineering department. We are an engineering team supporting space commercial and defense air vehicles programs such as: 787 777X F15 F18 AV8B T7A T45 MQ25 KC46 P8 B52 B1 KC135 Executive Transport platforms Commercial Crew Transportation Space Launch and weapon systems. Our team is responsible for NDE Engineering supporting of preproduction current production and postproduction efforts.

Position Responsibilities:
Apply nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods/approaches such as acoustic electromagnetic thermal optical and radiologic principles in developing new and novel methods/approaches to address affordability and supportability objectives
Develop new sensor technology and testing systems for nondestructive evaluation (NDE) applied to manufacturing and support areas
Define requirements for tools equipment materials parts and processes used in the engineering design manufacture and maintenance of products and approve their use
Lead development of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools equipment materials parts and processes
Maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations
Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to address business needs
Leads development validation and qualification of new tools equipment materials parts and processes to meet requirements
Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
Uses project management tools to meet cost technical and schedule requirements
Incorporates environmental health and safety LEAN and Quality principles into 1 materials and processes 2 research design and qualification 3 work procedures and 4 labs and office areas
Ensure compliance with industry codes standards and customer requirements (ASNT ASTM AWS ASME ISO etc.
Support audits root cause analyses and failure investigations as a subject matter expert
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians
Supports the Team Lead and work statement assist defining strategies and/or provides consultation
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to travel 10 of the time minimum
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science. And a Bachelors & 5 years experience or Masters & 3 years (Level 3 OR a Bachelors & 9 years experience or Masters & 7 years (Level 4
3 years of experience in Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5 years of handson experience in NDE/NDT engineering in a regulated industry (e.g. aerospace defense energy).
Bachelors degree or higher in Materials Science & Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or Physics
Experience with nondestructive evaluation processes (e.g. ultrasonic testing radiography eddy current testing and penetrant inspection)
Experience working in multidiscipline teams a strong desire to work with technical and nontechnical customers.
Strong understanding of materials behavior stress analysis and fracture mechanics.
Experience with project management tools
Excellent time management skills to manage several simultaneous projects effectively and across various geographical locations.
Active / Current Secret U.S. Security Clearance preferred but not required
