The Amazon Pricing team is looking for a seasoned product manager to own our worldwide suite of Price Evaluation tools that answer the hypothetical question posed above and many more like it. As the Principal Product Manager over our price evaluation tools youll partner with our team of research scientists data scientists business intelligence engineers and developers to build out the next generation of models that Amazon uses to evaluate prices. You will own and improve upon a suite of tools that are designed to ensure products on Amazon have prices that are factuallybased competitively priced and not too good to be true. The models and heuristics you will build will determine that one $100 product is likely a pricing error (a TV normally $1000 a different $100 product is a terrific price and should have a featured strikethrough price on the website (competitors consistently price the product for $199 and yet another $100 product is priced so high that we would not allow it to be featured on the website (its a 2pack and the 1pack is only $8.
This specific role is focused on innovating in areas we do not know how to price well in today. We will build large scale systems that will use reinforcement learning to price millions of items without requiring human input to delight our customers. As part of this effort you will define the multiyear vision for building out Pricing systems and algorithms that work in less than ideal data conditions in nascent market segments and in places where substitutes are rampant but hard to find. You will work with research scientists economists ML practitioners and our engineering team to help drive this vision. Successful candidates will enjoy diving deep into data have analytical skills excellent communication strategies and confident with executive level reviews. You will thrive in a collaborative creative analytical and fastpaced environment and are comfortable interacting with technical software development teams research teams and economists. You will be able to separate out idealistic from practical and balance both to continue to move forward. You will excel at looking around corners and anticipating where to build and when to test to fail fast. You must have the experience and capability to prepare documentation for senior executives. This is a highly visible position that will interact at all levels of the businesses we support.
As part of this role you will
Define the multiyear vision for the space
Build and manage high quality product roadmaps based on your vision and strategy
Work backwards to determine what the initial building blocks to achieve that vision will be
Work with key business stakeholders engineering partner teams Pricing Research and Central Econ to build out requirements for the different phases
Work with our inhouse engineering team to build and innovate in the space
Manage prioritization and tradeoffs for speed to launch performance and features
Gain support for your strategy and roadmap from stakeholders by writing narratives and influencing peers and senior leadership
Creating program goals and related metrics track progress and manage through obstacles to achieve your objectives

10 years of product management analytics or technology experience
Bachelors degree or equivalent
Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
Experience with end to end product delivery
Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
Experience owning technology products
Experience with data and analytical product suite
Experience in influencing senior leadership through data driven insights
Experience working across functional teams and senior stakeholders
Experience with ML/AI models and usage in business applications.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
