Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Quality Control Chemist
REPORTS TO: Quality Lead
Luxfer Magtech specializes in developing manufacturing and supplying a broad range of products that safeguard and protect ranging from flameless ration heaters that give our U.S. Military a hot meal; innovative chemical response kits designed to detect and decontaminate chemical warfare agents; to nutritious hot food and beverage options for militaries and first responders.REPORTS TO: Quality Lead
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary function for this position is to blend batch andMW1 validate various solutions and chemical intermediates used in the manufacturing process supporting all product categories. Responsibilities also include performing quantitative tests chemical titrations product conformance and all applicable enditem testing. This position has primary responsibility for safety and environmental compliance in their work areas and manages the Hazardous Waste area. This position is also responsible for performing other inspection activities including incoming inspection of applicable raw materials and other quality inspections as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identify daily production requirements and provide the necessary chemical solutions/intermediates.
- Oversee inspection activities and perform incoming materials inspections for quality and regulatory requirements.
- Generate nonconforming material reports for review and disposition of nonconforming materials of incoming materials.
- Perform required environmental inspection tied to chemical waste storage and disposal.
- Maintain records of solutions/intermediates to allow for lot traceability and determine associated waste.
- Conduct chemical inventories and cycle counts to maintain proper chemical levels as required.
- Support QC by performing additional product conformance and enditem tests as needed.
- Maintain equipment calibration schedules.
- Assist in defining and implementing process controls that will enable process improvement through the reduction of process variability.
- Establish procedures and create onepoint lessons on the different chemical mixing processes.
- Conduct internal audits of production and quality management system functions.
- Associates degree required preferred disciplines includeChemistry or Chemical Engineering
- 13 years ofquality control experience in an industrial environment preferred
- 13 years experience with mixing chemicals in a manufacturing environment experience with hazardous chemical preferred.
- Quantitative chemistry experience with GC and titration preferred.
- Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
- Successful attributes include:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to stand and walk most of the day and lift to 50pounds occasionally
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50pounds bend or stoop
- Must be able to regularly reach with hands/arms and speak clearly/hear; required to stand walk sit and use hands to manipulate handle or feel
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus

This position requires access to our exportcontrolled commodities technical data technology and services. These items are restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to U.S. Citizens Lawful Permanent Residents of the U.S. and properly licensed foreign persons. Therefore employment is contingent on compliance with ITAR regulations and successfully obtaining and maintaining the necessary export authorization license from the U.S. Department of Commerces Bureau of Industry and Security U.S. Department of States Office of Defense Trade Controls or other applicable government agency. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US.
