Position Overview:
The IKAN Regional Office of Education is seeking a dynamic and missiondriven School Social Worker to lead our school programs (SALT/RAAC) efforts in SocialEmotional Learning (SEL) and work readiness for students with behavioral and emotional needs. This role is key in helping students develop the skills and resilience needed to thrive both in school and in the workforce. The Social Worker will design and implement SEL programming to groups of students and to connect the SEL concepts to work readiness skills with the intent of helping students to successfully transition from a school environment to employment or postsecondary opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
SocialEmotional Learning (SEL):
- Help to design implement and monitor a schoolwide SEL curriculum that aligns with student needs and developmental levels.
- Provide smallgroup and oneonone SEL instruction including emotional regulation communication conflict resolution and selfadvocacy.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to embed SEL practices into daily classroom routines and instruction.
- Support crisis intervention restorative conversations and individualized behavior plans.
Work Skills & Transition Readiness:
- Help to develop and teach a structured Work Readiness curriculum that connects the SEL and instructional curriculum to the workplace but that also includes traditional skills like resume writing interview preparation workplace etiquette and time management.
- Assess student strengths interests and readiness levels to inform individualized transition plans.
- Coordinate and facilitate mock interviews job shadowing and workplace simulations.
- Provide ongoing instruction in soft skills essential for employment success.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
- Valid state licensure or certification (LMSW LCSW or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with youth with emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Demonstrated experience in SEL programming vocational education or workforce development.
- Strong knowledge of traumainformed care adolescent development and mental health supports.
- Excellent interpersonal organizational and communication skills.
- Passion for helping students gain independence and achieve success beyond school.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with transition planning IEP/504 processes and special education compliance.
- Knowledge of local job markets and community resources.
- Certification or training in restorative practices PBIS or youth employment programs.
