GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision the instructor is responsible for teaching ESL courses to students enrolled in Kirkwoods secondary programs. Instruction will take place facetoface inCoralville though there might be opportunities to teach in Cedar Rapids or online if there are also openings at those locations in the future. At times there might be travel to other Kirkwood locations for meetings. The instructor also assists students in transitioning from ESL courses to Kirkwood related work training and higher education opportunities in collaboration with other Kirkwood staff.
All classes are held Monday through Thursday. The session dates for next program year include: July 7 September 12 September 29 December 11 January 12 March 12 March 30 June 4. Class times are 9:10am11:10am 11:25am1:25pm and 6:00pm8:00pm. There are currently two openings in the evening 6:00pm8:00pm).The total hours per week for one class equates to 10 hours with limited extra hours being available for team meetings special projects and professional development. While previous teaching experience (any subject but literacy language or ESL preferred) is encouraged there is no licensing requirement.
