Main Purpose of Job
This position will develop and lead the Departments statewide business expansion and retention position is responsible for the management and oversight of the Offices 12 Senior Regional Business Development focus is to enhancethe economic vitality of the state through retention and expansion ofbusinesses and industry across Maryland and promote regional investmentdevelop strong working relationships with the local economic developmentoffices and business assistance organizations.
POSITION DUTIES
This position will managesupervise develop and oversee the Offices 12 Senior Regional BusinessDevelopment Representatives each representing different geographic regions ofthe include working in close cooperation withother units within the Department to ensure collaboration with companieseconomic development organization partners and stakeholders; working closely with local economic development officials companyCEOs senior leadership local and state elected officials and other partnersand stakeholders to facilitate the creation and retention of jobs and increasecapital investment across the state; linking Maryland companies to programspartners and services that support business growth and retention includingfederal state and local public resources and private resources to addressstrategic planning and marketing; technology implementation development andcommercialization; workforce development; regulatory and permitting assistance;financing assistance; manufacturing modernization; business location services;and businesstobusiness and businesstogovernment partnering opportunities.
The selected employee willhave demonstrated knowledge and skills in business needs assessment strategicbusiness planning and real estate ventures; possess strong administrativeorganizational project management written oral and interpersonalcommunications skills; ability to workwith highlevel public and private sector officials; knowledgeable ofMarylands current state federal and private assistance programs; possess theability to execute concurrent projects in a timely manner and have a workingknowledge of grants budgeting and finance. Be proficient inthe Microsoft Office Suite Google Mail and/or other relevant software.
Statewide travel is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelors Degree from anaccredited college or university in Business Management or AdministrationEconomics or a related field AND
Experience: Eight 8 years of recentprofessional experience in industrial business or economic developmentplanning marketing commercial real estate or related field. An equivalent combination of education andexperience will be accepted
Notes:
1.Candidates may substitute the possession of Masters degree from an accreditedcollege or university for 2 years of the required experience.
2. Candidates maysubstitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissionedofficer involving staff work related to the administration of rulesregulations policy procedures and processes or overseeing or coordinatingunit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher rankingcommissioned officer on a yearforyear basis for the required experience DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicantswho possess the following preferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications.
1. Three years direct experience supervising other professional employees.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with business and economic development retention and expansion in Maryland.
3. Experience overseeing and coordinating the operations of a unit exercising responsibility for the development of policies and procedures motivating staff and maintaining effective relationships.
