Position SummaryThe Solvent Process Operator I is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of distillation processes on drum and bulk solvent loads. This includes operating specialized units such as Distillation Columns Cookers and the Luwa system. The role involves handling potentially hazardous materials in compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
Compensation and SchedulePay Rate: $24.00 per hour
Shift: Day shift
Schedule: 12hour rotating shift
Key Responsibilities- Safely offload inbound tankers and perform distillation as directed by laboratory protocols.
- Operate and maintain Distillation units ensuring all startup operational and shutdown procedures are followed.
- Complete daily operational checklists and report any issues or irregularities immediately.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe and compliant operation.
- Ensure all processing meets technical specifications and environmental guidelines.
- Perform QA/QC activities including Gas Chromatography (GC) Karl Fischer (KF) APHA color analysis and pH measurement.
- Maintain accurate logs and run sheets for all processes.
- Monitor tank levels and adjust as needed during operation.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
- Review SOPs regularly and pass required knowledge checks.
- Complete all necessary documentation for waste tracking and scanning.
ResponsibilitiesMinimum RequirementsEducation:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- 03 years in a chemical or industrial processing environment.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of EPA and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in basic lab testing and safety practices.
- Familiarity with distillation systems and treatment protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Teamoriented with clear communication skills.
Travel RequirementsSupervisory Responsibilities- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
QualificationsPhysical Requirements- Work Type: Medium (frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs)
- Standing/Walking: 4 hours per shift
- Frequent Physical Activities: Bending climbing reaching pushing pulling grasping
- Occasional Activities: Lifting up to 100 lbs driving equipment
- Manual Dexterity: Constant grasping and fine manipulation
- Vision: Near and far acuity color perception peripheral vision
- Hearing: Ability to recognize alarms and communicate via phone
- Respirator Use: Required (Respirator Fit Test required)
Additional Physical Demands- Ability to work in loud environments
- Tasks may require tasting smelling stooping crouching crawling
- Must meet all Clean Harbors safety and PPE requirements
