Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Nursing and Allied Health works collaboratively to provide clinical and classroom instruction for first and secondyear nursing students. Job duties may be performed on campus and at approved clinical sites.


Essential Duties

  1. Work with nursing faculty to develop implement evaluate and periodically review and revise the organizing framework learning outcomes and curriculum of the program which is affiliated with the Oregon Consortium of Nursing Education (OCNE).
  2. Design and implement instructional activities for online and inclass delivery as well as for clinical experiences including skills labs simulations (virtual and live) and rotations in acute care specialty care longterm care and communitybased settings.
  3. Develop implement and evaluate student practice experiences including selecting learning experiences assessing and guiding students and evaluating client and student safety and learning outcomes.
  4. Evaluate student achievement of identified learning objectives and outcomes assign grades according to policies and recommend successful candidates for the degree or certificate. Develop and facilitate performance improvement plans (PIPs) and clinical contracts for students at risk as per Nursing Program and College policies while providing guidance and support as they meet requirements of the Program.
  5. Develop and evaluate policies and standards for the selection admission advanced placement promotion and graduation of nursing students within the framework of College policies.
  6. Develop implement and evaluate Nursing Program policies.
  7. Provide academic advising to students and maintain regular office hours per Clinical Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  8. Maintain professional competence and job qualifications as regulated by the Oregon State Board of Nursing and the College.
  9. Interpret and communicate program goals and student learning objectives/outcomes to staff in practice settings.
  10. Participate in faculty service including college committees workgroups and governance.
  11. Participate cooperatively with agencies and other educational programs to facilitate appropriate and equitable access to practice sites.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

OR

Bachelors degree in nursing anda Masters degree in a related field with a postmasters certificate in nursing from a program that is at least two semesters or three quarters in length;

OR

Bachelors degree in nursing with expressed interest in enrollment and/or progress towards a masters degree in nursing. (Candidates hired under this criteria will be required to begin coursework by the end of the first year of employment and complete the masters degree within four years after hire date as a condition of continued employment.

  1. Three years of recent clinical nursing experience.
  2. Hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon. Candidate hired for this position will be required to obtain an Oregon license by September 15 2025.

Please Note:

  1. Requirements for teaching nursing are determined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
  2. Attainment of the Masters degree in nursing is a condition of continued employment. The successful candidates progress will be reviewed upon initial hire to determine a reasonable timeline for completion. The maximum time allowed will be four years.
  3. The successful pass of an Oregon criminal history check is required as a condition of employment.
  4. Adherence to all OHA requirements for immunizations and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge

  1. Knowledge of scope of practice of RN as identified by OSBN.
  2. Knowledge of various types of instructional delivery modes including webbased instruction.
  3. Knowledge of the nursing process and how it relates to nursing education.
  4. Knowledge of and familiarity with the OCNE curriculum.

Skills

  1. Skill in oral written and interpersonal communication as applied to presentations and interaction with faculty staff and students.
  2. Skill in problem solving and working in a team environment.
  3. Skill in computer operations including word processing applications.
  4. Skill in using Canvas or similar learning management system (LMS).
  5. Skill in the development of performance and/or classroom evaluation.
  6. Skill in promoting critical thinking in a variety of educational settings.
  7. Skill in evaluation of student clinical performance.

Abilities

  1. Ability and willingness to maintain currency in the field of nursing practice.
  2. Ability to manage time prioritize tasks and organize work to complete assigned duties.
