At a Glance!The Early Learning Center (ELC) is ahighqualitychildcare facility that serves the diverse children of Lower Columbia College faculty staff and students and the community. ELC teachers are a childcentered group with a passion in early childhood.

We are looking for an individual who shares the same passion for early childhood and is a selfmotivated team player that strives to meet the diverse needs of the children in the ELC. The individual in this position must be able to communicate effectively with parents peers and children and thrive in a fastpaced environment.This position is responsible for assisting the Mentor Teacher in the classroom. The position will provide support in a variety of ways including interactions with children classroom management and maintaining a positive classroom environment.

The Teacher Assistant positions are 11.5 month 40 hours/week position. The Teacher Assistant is classified as an Early Childhood Program Specialist 2. The Teacher Assistant reports directly to the Director of the ELC. The typical schedule is 9:00 am to 6:00 pm but the Teacher Assistant attends some evening meetings and events.

Successful candidates typically start towards the beginning of the salary range and will receive scheduled salary increases. Please note that there may be a COLA applied to the posted salary range effective July 1 2025.

  • Bachelors in early childhood education
  • Bilingual or fluency in other languages

  • TB Test
  • Valid Food Handlers card
  • Passed MERIT portable background check
  • Completion of Child Care Basics Blood Borne Pathogens and DCYF training requirements
  • Must have valid certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid
