Job Description

Student Worker Communication Intern

Number of Openings: 2

Purpose/Objective of the Role:

The Department of Journalism and Communication is seeking a motivated and detailoriented undergraduate intern to support administrative communication and diversityfocused initiatives. This unique role offers handson experience at the intersection of media strategic communication and equity work in higher education.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with department communications and updating website/Blackboard content.
  • Support faculty and staff with event planning logistics and promotion.
  • Conduct basic research or gather information for departmental projects and reports.
  • Assist in the planning and of equityrelated programs workshops and campaigns.
  • Support internal and external communications that promote campus diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts.
  • Conduct outreach to student groups and campus partners for DEI initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled OWU undergraduate student in good academic standing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in communication diversity or higher education administration.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms Canva and basic content management systems is a plus.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and cultural awareness.
