About This Role

As a Driving Instructor with Coastline Academy you will be teaching the drivers of tomorrow. In a companyprovided vehicle you will educate and advise students while teaching them the fundamentals of operating a car behind the wheel. You will be responsible for planning and delivering customized lessons that promote students theoretical and applied driving skills. Driving instructors also communicate with students to determine which of their skills require further development.

Well assist you in obtaining the staterequired driving instructor certification through our paid training program. The training consists of video sessions selfpaced reading assignments and behindthewheel training in a Coastline car in your local area. All of our lessons are taught in a Coastline Car and recorded with a dashboard camera for the safety of you and your student. Our driving instructors enjoy tailoring their own schedules keeping in mind the majority of the demand for driving lessons is in the afternoons and weekends as most of our students are on a school schedule. A typical day could consist of three twohour lessons with paid travel time included.

Responsibilities

• Teaching practical skills related to all aspects of driving
• Providing instruction on the rules of the road
• Helping students to develop confidence in their driving skills
• Gaining control of the vehicle during emergency situations
• Documenting and reporting on students progress
• Maintaining communication with your supervisor and support team
• Attending team meetings for updates and ongoing development

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for helping people learn
• Ability to remain calm in a learning environment
• A clean valid California Drivers License
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to pass a background check drug screen and reference check
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• A strong safety mindset and strong reasoning ability
• Ability to give clear instruction coach communicate effectively to others
• Ability to focus for extended periods of time

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a vehicle
• Must be able to see and hear during all weather conditions
• Must be able to bend stoop kneel touch feel
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
