Brief Description of Duties

We are looking to expand our French language Adjunct instructors pool. English & World Languages Program is seeking adjunct instructors for a variety of day evening and online credit classes. Our instructors are passionate knowledgeable and dedicated. They enjoy working with our diverse population of adolescent and adult learners and are interested in professional development and growing as educators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching assigned course hours each week
Lesson/Syllabi design & planning
Assessing regularly and giving timely feedback to students
Completing required paperwork and maintaining accurate records such as attendance and grades
Delivering planned lessons in the classroom or online according to program standards
Examining and remediating ones instructional relational and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support students of diverse needs and backgrounds
Student Advising
Participating and undertaking Course Assessments
Monitoring UDC email for program updates and information
Attending required professional development and/or University meetings

Minimum Job Requirement

Masters degree or higher in a foreign language linguistics education or a related field or BA/BS in TESOL linguistics education foreign language English or related field with teaching experience and a background or experience in teaching French language to nonnative speakers.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Proficiency in the language of instruction i.e. French

Teaching experience (Experience in teaching or tutoring languages is preferred)

Expertise in curriculum development and design

Must reside in the District of Columbia Maryland or states contiguous to Maryland including VA WV or PA

Condition of Employment: Temporary employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.

Collective Bargaining Unit: Dependent upon certain criteria this position may be eligible for representation and require payment of union fees through direct payroll deduction.

Employment Benefits: Due to the temporary nature of this appointment this position is ineligible for benefits.
