The Role
Plan staff monitor and safely deliver welding projects according to schedule and budget by performing the following duties.
What you will be responsible for:
- Supervise and coordinates activities of workers engaged in welding of products and structures.
- Manage all daytoday welding related activities.
- Responsible for overall welding shop performance ontime delivery quality weld count and cost (cycle time and overtime).
- Responsible for initiating and implementing Manufacturing Process Capability and Continuous quality improvement.
- Review and oversee weld shop design for optimal efficiency.
- Drive for continuous culture improvement throughout entire welding process.
- Develop and maintain training / certification programs for welding team.
- Maintain shop equipment tools for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items.
- Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations required.
- Requisitions supplies such as weld rods gas flux and fixtures.
- Confers with weld inspectors or inspects work to maintain specified standards and quality.
- Train workers in operation of equipment.
- Scheduling work activities to meet production demands while maintaining product quality
- Lead and/or support the implementation of improved manufacturing welding
- Routine trouble shooting and problem solving including finding ways of improvement for longterm solution.
- Encourage continuous idea generation from team members for continuous process improvement in cost time and safety.
- Ensure 5S (workplace organization method in the area with good housekeeping manner) is being applied on a daily basis.
- Ensure all equipment is up to date and within the standards needed.
- Follow updated schedules to meet ship dates provided by management.
- Strong attention to detail organization skill and communication skill.
- Prioritize tasks in a selfdirected and timemanaged manner.
- Monitor quality in accordance with the company ISO Quality Plan
- Regular attendance ability to arrive at work punctually and ability to work onsite.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to supervise 1 90 nonexempt employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Kelvions policies procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities will include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Directing employees work; setting and adjusting rates of pay and hours of work of employees; planning and controlling the budget for department; providing for the safety of the employees; planning the work; determining the techniques to be used; apportioning the work among the workers.
COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS (knowledge skills and abilities)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Personal computer skills including electronic mail record keeping routine database activity word processing spreadsheet graphics etc.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others ability to deal respectfully with the public customers vendors other employees managers and executive management.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently ability to work in a fastpaced environment ability to interchange with others in the department.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have working understanding of AWS.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field including with robotic welding required. Proficient in welding techniques.
- Broad working experience in supply chain functions of planning purchasing inventory management and Logistics
- Handson knowledge
- Demonstrated leadership skills & managerial experience
