Resident and Staff Safety
Recognizing resident and staff safety are key priorities. Staff will observe all policies related to health and safety practice safety in all work procedures including the use of equipment as well as reporting any and all hazards and safety concerns.
Supervision
This position reports to the Clinical Care Coordinator and/or designate.
Responsibilities:
1. Level Definition:
Positions at this level assess plan implement and evaluate nursing care for their work assignments in accordance with competency guidelines within the standards of practice as outlined by the College of LPNs of BC and current legislative scope of practice.
2. Typical Duties
2.1 Assesses and monitors residents actual and potential strengths and limitations. Utilizes a holistic model of assessment including physiological psychological socioculture and spiritual needs. Where appropriate encourages resident participation in activities of daily living.
2.2 Contributes to the development and modification of the individualized care plan including attending and providing input into the care conferences grand rounds and family conferences.
3. Performs all nursing care and nursing procedures applicable to the LPN Standards of Practice scope.
Evaluates outcomes:
Records observations and is able to understand and utilize the nursing process. Reports problems and/or changes to designated Team Leader RN/RPN and/or Clinical Care Coordinator.
Administers medications including liquid narcotics to assigned residents according to policy and procedures. This includes all subcutaneous intramuscular injections.
Participates in admissions discharges transfer and placement of residents in accordance with the Access Priority guidelines and facility operating policies.
5Documents information on the residents chart including all pertinent clinical information related to the residents condition care and nursing procedures.
Provides personal care to the residents assists residents with meals and all other aspects of their care.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education Training and Experience
Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses.
Must be full scope practice status
1One years recent related experience.
Current full practicing licensure with the College of Practical Nurses of BC CLPNBC. Current certificate in CPR.
Criminal and vulnerable check required
Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Note: Pay rate is based on CBA. Pay rate starts at $32.84.
