Craft Welding instructors are hired in a fulltime or parttime capacity on a semesterbysemester basis contingent upon the needs of our education program. Propel Career Academy (PCA) accepts applications yearround from qualified applicants willing to teach on a fulltime or parttime basis. Craft Welding instructor hiring is based on student demand. We may offer day and evening classes. Classes are offered at our San Antonio facility during the academic year. Generally Craft Welding instructors may work approximately 40hour or 1824 hours each week. Applications submitted online are accessed and reviewed by the Director of Education as the need to hire arises. There is normally no communication with applicants unless they are selected for an interview.

• Teaches Welding courses at a variety of times.
• Submits required reports and forms in a timely manner to Administrative Office.
• Assist in Developing and Utilizing the course syllabus for each course.
• Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment electronic communication or other appropriate methods.
• Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress.
• Maintains professional relationships with students and colleagues.
• Continuously improves instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies techniques and delivery methods.
• Attends meetings trainings and orientations as required.
• Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of all aspects of the Welding trade
• Mastery of NCCER Welding course content AWSCWI or SCWI Certifications highly preferred
• Mastery of Lincoln Electric course content and Lincoln Electric Labs
• Skills in project leadership; style that emphasizes collaboration teamwork and facilitation

Physical Abilities:

• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discrimination in sound
• Ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely
• Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately loudly or quickly
• Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading
• Ability to demonstrate the proper use of power and hand tools related to the specific trade or craft in a safe manner

Qualifications Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 4 years of documented Welding experience at the journeyman level including at least 1 year in a leadership/supervisory role and verify the various responsibilities undertaken in the discharge of those duties OR
• Minimum 3 years experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance related training program
• Possess a Welding Journeyman credential or equivalent
• Possess an NCCER Instructor certification or be willing to complete NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP) and obtain the appropriate certification from NCCER in the CORE and the Welding Craft area.
• Possess Lincoln Electric instructor certification or be willing to complete Lincoln Electric Instructor Certification Training Program and obtain the appropriate certification from Lincoln Electric.

Work Schedule & Conditions:

• Hours will vary depending on class time. Instructors are required to meet with classes at scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction
• PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment calculator phone and other general office equipment
• Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
• Work is performed in a skilled trades laboratory which may include exposure to high noise environments and weatherrelated working conditions
