This is an incredibly exciting time to join our Asset Management & Maintenance (AM&M) Bus Fleet team. We have secured project approval and budget from our senior leadership team to modernize the Metrolinx Bus Fleet. With plans in place to shift the fleet portfolio to a mixture of Diesel Electric and Hydrogen Powertraindriven vehicles we are seeking an Engineering Specialist EV Battery Technology with experience knowledge and expertise in Battery Electric Vehicles. The ideal candidate will have engineering experience and handon experience in the field of Electric Vehicle or Vehicle Battery as an Electrical Engineer or Electronics Engineer.
The candidate will also play a key role in supporting the procurement launch inspection testing maintenance troubleshooting and repair of transit buses or highway coach subsystems. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to the future of zeroemission technology and elevate your knowledge and experience of innovation and sustainability in a pioneer team environment.
What will I be doing
- Work on Battery Electrical Buses within the bus fleet Pilot Projects team and contribute to related tasks of zeroemission strategy.
- Responsible for troubleshooting root cause investigation and problem solving by using tools e.g. 5 whys fault tree analysis DFMEA PFMEA FMECA 7 steps 8D
- Participate in interactive discussions with vendors internal teams external organizations and provide expertise in electrical and/or electronic engineering.
- Review electrical design drawings software codes documents; then summarize key points for internal discussion.
- Evaluates electrical products and prototypes to ensure compliance with specifications regulations standards and codes.
- Write RFP (Request For Proposal) documents Tech Specifications requirements acceptance criteria testing procedures to support the Battery Electric Bus procurement delivery inspection testing and operation.
- Present and explain task status investigation result proposals solutions in various formal reviews.
- Work effectively with internal stakeholders and align on the interface requirements.
- Research latest market status design standards procedures and best practices to ensure safety and continuous improvement.
- Suggest ways to enhance the electrical capability within the team; provide guidance and advice to junior team members.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering Electronics Engineering Computer Science Computer Engineering or equivalent Battery Electric Vehicle specific experience with the knowledge of EEE fundamentals e.g. Power Systems Power Electronics Communication Systems Control Systems AC/DC Circuits Programming (e.g. C Matlab Python) Electromagnetism; and handon experience in the industry or the laboratory.
- Demonstrated engineering work experience in the field of Electric Vehicle or Vehicle Battery with the knowledge of electrical safety (e.g. fire protection short circuit fault grounding safety arc flash PPE) and theexperience with troubleshooting root cause analysis and problem solving for electrical or electronic components subsystems and systems.
- Understanding of battery electric vehicle structure subsystems and components.
- Familiar with or experienced in Asset Management Planning and SoGR (State of Good Repair) models.
Highly motivated and result driven with excellent oral written/presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively in a team environment and a multifunctional organization
