Job Description
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree Required
- Experience teaching English (Speaking/Listening/Reading/Writing) to individuals whose first language is not English
- SC Teacher Certification preferred
- ESOL Endorsement or TESOL Certification preferred
- Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional strategies for adult learners
- Ability to connect with adult learners from different cultures and backgrounds
- Ability to analyze assessment data for instructional planning and delivery
- Proficient in designing differentiated instruction for students
- Proficient in the use of technology and the ability to integrate technology into instruction
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to complete records and reports neatly accurately and in a timely manner
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Work Schedule:
- Main Schedule: 10 hours/week: Monday & Wednesday 8:00am1:00pm; August May
- Able to attend additional trainings and professional development (usually on Fridays) as required
- Additional hours may be available for assistance with ESL Testing and/or Workplace Literacy classes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Follow state ESL standards and guidelines to plan develop and implement lessons for up to 20 students in a multilevel multicultural classroom
- Improve the speaking reading and writing skills of students through diverse and engaging lessons and activities
- Incorporate elements of Civics and Citizenship Family Literacy Digital Literacy and Workforce Preparation into classroom lessons and activities
- Complete required training for administering student assessments (ie. Best Plus) and administer the assessment to students following the state testing guidelines
- Participate in staff meetings and state sponsored ESL training days
- Follow up with students who are repeatedly absent
- Work in conjunction with the parenting programs in York and Clover to recruit participants enrolled in those programs.
