The Infant/Toddler Teacher (Early Head Start Teacher) is responsible for working collaboratively with his/her partner Teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom with a total of 68 children of mixed ages from birth to 3 years of age. The position also works with a team of other classroom teachers and family members to implement the Creative Curriculum for Infant/Toddlers to achieve outcomes for children of all abilities.
Job Responsibilities:
Develops individual learning plans for each child including goal setting based on identified needs and prescriptions for objectives and activities to meet established child outcomes.
Plans and implement lesson plans that advance the cognitive and physical development of children promote progress toward school readiness goals including social emotional language emergent literacy and math and problemsolving abilities follow the programs written curriculum providing ample opportunities for natural play and hands on experiences and reflecting the learning styles of individual children in the group support the social and emotional development of children.
Implements developmentally and linguistically appropriate experiences appropriate to age language and culture of children served.
Collaborates with a partner Teacher in the preparation of daily lesson plans; posts them for parents volunteers and visitors in the classroom.
Implements daily lesson plans in response to childrens needs and interests incorporating observations anecdotal record keeping knowledge of early childhood development and the key experiences.
Provides support for learning and language development through active facilitation expansion of cognition and communication and modeling and supporting highquality language.
Implements childcentered daily routines and learning environment that encourages the development of ageappropriate positive social interactions active exploration/ engagement in learning and selfmotivation (curiosity) to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities.
Provides emotional support through establishing a positive climate being aware of and responsive to children and encouraging child expression and autonomy.
Uses strategies for behavior guidance such as communicating clear expectations being proactive and using effective and positive redirection; provides positive guidance and discipline supporting children as they acquire readiness skills for kindergarten and beyond.
Job Requirements:
1. Infant/Toddler CDA OR associate or bachelors degree in early childhood education or a related field with at least 120 training hours (nine credits) in Infant/Toddler content.
2. CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
3. Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
4. Travel required locally or longdistance up to 10 of the time for workrelated meetings and functions.
This is a fulltime salaried position and the pay rate is $35924.85 annually.
