Resource Pool - APP Outpatient BMT AutoAlloCAR-T

This is a Relief/Flex Resource position

Seeing up to 12 patients per day this APP provides care in conjunction with a team comprised of physicians advanced practice professionals (APPs) RN coordinators and other allied health professionals. APPs may practice both independently or in a sharedcare model with physicians as determined by the needs of the team. Additionally this APP may be intermittently provide oversight of the infusion unit responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues.

After appropriate proctoring APPs will independently perform procedures including bone marrow aspirate/biopsy lumbar puncture ommaya tap and skin biopsy.

This position reports through the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Outpatient Manager.

Clinic hours: Four 10hour days between Monday and Friday.

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide medical care independently in the outpatient setting to this select group of patients.
• Communicate with attending physicians regarding a patients condition treatment plans and urgent medical needs
• Communicate with patients and family regarding their medical conditions treatment plans and their progress. Review labs and imaging as appropriate
• Assure appropriate setting of care (ambulatory inpatient critical care acute care)
• Document subjective and objective findings assessment and plan clearly and accurately in progress notes according to OHSU guidelines
• Provide comprehensive symptom management of complex patients by working collaboratively with oncology nurses palliative care providers social workers and others based on patient need
• Maintain communication with primary care providers and other individuals and agencies (e.g. skilled nursing facilities) as appropriate
• Deliver care to patients receiving treatment on clinical trials per protocol guidelines with timely notification of principal investigator/research nurse or study coordinator and appropriate documentation of adverse events
• Provide urgent medical care for stem cell therapy/transplant patients requiring same day evaluation
• Adhere to best practice protocols and OHSU specific policies

Nurse Practitioner:

• Current and active Nurse Practitioner license for the state of Oregon
• State of Oregon Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Privileges
• DEA certificate

Physician Assistant:

• Current and active Physician Assistant license for State of Oregon
• DEA certificate

Preferred Experience:

• 2 years of APP experience in hematology and/or hematopoietic cell therapy

• 2 years of APP experience in oncology
• Experience working in research and with experimental therapeutics
• Experience with EPIC and Beacon
• Exposure to clinical trial research
