The Fleet Maintenance and Compliance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe compliant and efficient operation of both the companys fleet and warehouse. This role combines oversight of DOT/FMCSA safety compliance driver safety programs and vehicle maintenance with warehouse operations including inventory management vendor coordination and supervision of mechanics. The position promotes a safetyfirst culture drives continuous improvement and supports crossfunctional collaboration to meet operational goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Fleet & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure compliance with DOT FMCSA and OSHA regulations.
- Monitor and manage driver logs pre/posttrip inspections and DVIRs.
- Address ELD (e.g. Samsara) issues and Hours of Service violations.
- Conduct incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead driver safety training and hold regular safety meetings.
- Manage accident reporting and coordinate with Risk Management and insurers.
- Maintain fleet records vehicle lists permits and citations.
- Analyze trends and provide regular safety and compliance reports.
- Identify areas of poor performance indicators as reported by FMCSA. Provide guidance and oversee all communications related to the reporting of FMCSA scores and progress to the Logistics Operations Manager.
Warehouse & Maintenance Management
- Supervise mechanics and ensure quality maintenance work.
- Coordinate with Terminal Supervisor to prioritize fleet maintenance needs.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and warehouse procedures.
- Optimize fleet shop layout and storage configurations for efficiency.
- Schedule and coordinate shipments to meet maintenance demands.
- Monitor performance and productivity to maximize operation excellence which includes service quality and cost control in collaboration with Logistics Operations Manager.
- Actively participate in required training and development programs.
- Ensure safe warehouse practices and compliance with internal protocols.
- Train and mentor warehouse staff and mechanics on safety procedures.
- Drive performance and productivity while managing costs and service levels.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 4 years of fleet maintenance or transportation operations experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a safety compliance role.
- Indepth knowledge of DOT/FMCSA OSHA regulations and warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with inventory systems and ELD software (Samsara preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook).
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.
- Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
- Must pass hair follicle drug screening background check and physical.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Certified Defensive Driving Trainer.
- Proficiency in ELD systems (Samsara preferred)
- Purchasing or inventory management background.
- Knowledge of trucking operations (e.g. chips flatbeds logging).
SALARY RANGE: $67000 $80000 per year
