As one of the fastestgrowing counties in the country Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) has become one of the largest openadmission municipal shelters in the nation. We currently operate at above a 90 save rate and embrace Fear Free values to ensure the physical and emotional health and wellness of the animals in our care. SignOn Incentive: Participating in Loan Repayment: $7500 After 3 months and at 1 year. Not Participating in Loan Repayment: $12500 After 3 months and at 1 year.
Repayment: Employees who received a signon incentive and voluntarily separate from County employment must repay all signon incentives received during the last 12 months prior to their separation.

Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine
Valid Arizona Veterinarian license upon hire

Job Contributions
Examine impounded inhouse and fostered shelter animals to perform diagnostics create treatment plans prescribe therapeutics and determine appropriate disposition for incoming animals
Execute spay/neuter surgeries perform dental extractions read and interpret radiograph studies and perform nonwitnessed ownerrequested euthanasia
Evaluate animals for release from bite quarantine
Monitor dispense and log controlled substances and maintain medical records
Participate in biweekly onsite vaccination clinics
Provide training to clinic shelter and field staff members
Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external clients
Working Conditions
Fastpaced animal shelter environment with exposure to extreme and varying temperatures dogs and cats with unknown temperaments and behaviors excessive noise animal waste and fluids deceased animals cleaning chemicals and zoonotic diseases
Ability to lift bend stoop stand and walk on various surfaces including slippery uneven and rough
Ability to exert 50100 lbs. occasionally 1025 lbs. frequently and 1020 lbs. constantly
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona drivers license and have an acceptable driving record upon hire
Drug Enforcement Agency Certification is required
