Job Description

BLUE RIDGE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

Job Title:Payroll and General Fixed Asset Specialist

FLSA: NonExempt Hourly Position 12 months

Position Summary:

The Payroll & General Fixed Asset Specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll for all district employees and maintaining the districts general fixed asset inventory in compliance with Arizona state regulations and district policies. This position ensures timely accurate payroll and supports internal financial accountability through asset tracking and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent with major course work in accounting or a related field
  • 2 years of experience in administering payroll preferred
  • Tyler TechnologyVisions Software experience preferred
  • This position involves a large degree of responsibility and knowledge in the payroll department
  • Deadlines crucial to the position
  • Strong organizational skills detail oriented communication skills ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast paced environment
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times
  • IVP Fingerprint Card (Level 1 clearance)

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer and Director of HR

Fixed Asset Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and monitor general fixed asset records including acquisitions disposals transfers and tagging of equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with Uniform System of Financial Records (USFR) and state regulations related to capital assets.

  • Conduct and support annual physical inventories at all sites.

  • Reconcile asset records with general ledger accounts and submit necessary updates to the finance department.

  • Coordinate with departments and schools for surplus lost or stolen property documentation.

  • Assist auditors with assetrelated documentation during annual financial audits.

Payroll Responsibilities:

  • Process biweekly payrolls for all employee groups in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Review employee time records leave balances and deductions for accuracy and compliance.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal payroll laws and district policies.

  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and maintain confidentiality
  • Familiar with School District accounting codes preferred
  • Maintain files to record all payroll transactions
  • Maintain process employee absences
  • Maintain substitute reports to ensure that information is properly recorded
  • Compile and submit the ASRS contributions withheld for each payroll processed.
  • Compile and submit Direct Deposit ACH payment
  • Compile and submit the Federal and State payroll tax withholding for each payroll processed.
  • Familiar with Governing Board Policies
  • Knowledge of Frontline time clock and absence system preferred
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources with additional duties as assigned
