Job Description

Teaching Assignment To Be Determined

Provide instruction and instruct students to develop skills and ability to excel in dance. Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in drill students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required.

  1. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
  2. Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency board policies campus policies and administrative regulations.
  3. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.
  4. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals objectives and methods in accordance with district requirements.
  5. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s).
  6. Employ the use of technologies in the teaching/learning process.
  7. Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
  8. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  9. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and may sponsor outside activities approved by the school.
  10. Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district.
  11. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  12. Establish control in the classroom and administer discipline in accordance with board policies campus policiesand administrative regulations.
  13. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  14. Assist in the selection of books equipment and other instructional materials.
  15. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
  16. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues students parents and community members.
  17. Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  18. Participate in the district staff development program.
  19. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
  20. Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible.
  21. Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  22. Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required.
  23. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Instruction
1. Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of students in dance.
2. Manage and supervise drill team activities contests and practice sessions to promote individual growth in skills teamwork and good sportsmanship.
3. Work with other members of school staff to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of students.
Program Management
4. Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students abilities initially and on a regular basis. Model performance criteria and physical movements required for successful student performance.
5. Take all necessary precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.

6. Schedule competitions and plan season activities including practices special events and competition.
7. Coordinate with transportation department for travel arrangements to outoftown events.
8. Ensure compliance with all UIL rules.
9. Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
10. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of drill team program and make changes based on findings.
Student Management
11. Accompany and supervise students during competitions both athome and on outoftown trips.
12. Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
13. Apply and enforce student discipline during contests practice sessions and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
14. Encourage by example and through instruction sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of drill team participation.
Communication
15. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals and teachers.
Administration
16. Assist in selection of equipment and instructional materials.
17. Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required.
18. Initiate and approve purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district policies.
19. Oversee process of cleaning repairing and storing all equipment and maintain a current inventory of all equipment and fixed assets within program.
20. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
