Conduct legal research and analysis of complex water rights issues including case law statutes and administrative regulations as well as preparation of pleadings briefs and comment letters that present our position.
Advise the company and its county Farm Bureau members on complex water issues.
Represent us effectively in negotiations and disputes including court appearances and agency proceedings.
Collaborate with internal and external teams to formulate and execute strategic legal actions and support our objectives.
Travel to attend meetings or regulatory hearings as needed.
Experience you will need:
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and member in good standing of the California Bar Association.
Strong understanding of water law including state and federal statutes regulations and case law related to water rights.
Fundamental understanding of the State Groundwater Management Act.
Experience in legal research writing and litigation.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with members agencies and opposing counsel.
Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.
Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and their impact on water rights.
