Software Development Engineer - Amazon Robotics Robotic Movement

Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated engineer to architect design and develop innovative capabilities across highlyscalable robotic systems. You will architect design and implement software that controls the movement of hundreds of thousands of robotic drives within Amazons Robotics fulfillment network. Our teams software is at the heart of ensuring Amazons retail customers get their packages on time.

You will have opportunities to collaborate and work with firmware engineers applied scientists data scientists and crossfunctional teams on cuttingedge automation solutions for Amazons evergrowing robotic fleet.


Key job responsibilities
* Architect design and implement robotic applications and infrastructure.
* Influence the teams strategy and contribute to longterm vision and roadmap.
* Work with stakeholders across organization to iterate on design and implementation.
* Maintain high standards by participating in reviews designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.
* Prototype and test concepts or features both through simulation and emulators and with live robotic equipment
* Work directly with customers and partners to test prototypes and incorporate feedback
* Mentor other engineer team members.

About the team
As a Robotic Movement software engineer you design and deliver cloudbased highperformance software that controls Amazons worldwide fleet of mobile robots. The servicebased software architecture is mainly written in Java and built using AWS products. Our team balances building new services to meet the needs of our growing customer base and extending existing services by developing new algorithms or by optimizing application performance.

3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
3 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
3 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Strong background or familiarity with algorithms and system design used to solve complex problems for highlyscalable systems
Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading/supporting an engineering team
Strong communication skills ability to support and collaborate work well in a team environment

Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
5 years professional experience preferred with a strong background with algorithms used to solve complex problems for highlyscalable systems
