NYC DOT seeks a motivated graduatelevel or undergraduate College Aide to work in its Resiliency Planning and Management (RPM)unit. The position would work under the supervision of the director and an experienced member of the RPM planning staff. The candidate would support a number of ongoing research and implementation efforts related to the department s goal of protecting transportation infrastructure and transportation users against the effects of extreme weather and climate change particularly coastal flooding and extreme heat. Some duties of this position include research writing and analysis related to climate change adaptation and resilience. Development of policy research questions and methods; coordination with other DOT units to receive input and prepare preliminary milestone deliverables for capital projects as well as possible coordination with scientific experts agency and public stakeholders; Identification manipulation and analysis of spatial data using GIS Excel and/or other software. Other various duties may include strategic and administrative preparation for meetings with DOT staff other government agencies Community Boards consultants and local stakeholders.

Qualifications :
For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology computer science management information systems data processing or closely related field including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology computer science management information systems data processing or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than halftime in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed fulltime during their vacation periods.
