Job Description
We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for performing mechanical repairs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on large dieselpowered mining equipment. The ideal candidate brings experience working with heavy equipment such as CAT and Komatsu a strong mechanical background and the ability to work safely and independently.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair heavy mobile mining equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication oil changes and filter replacements
- Use manuals hand tools and power tools to complete repairs and rebuilds
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical hydraulic braking and air conditioning systems
- Replace ground engaging tools and other wear components
- Perform basic welding and fabrication work
- Operate mobile equipment as needed to support site operations
- Maintain accurate service records using a laptop or mobile device
- Manage parts inventory and assist in ordering supplies
- Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout practices
- Assist in training coworkers and communicating via hand signals and radio
- Support site cleanup and general maintenance
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements:
- High school diploma GED or equivalent experience required
- Minimum 2 years of mobile equipment maintenance experience (CAT and Komatsu preferred)
- Trade school or technical certification preferred
- CDL preferred or must be able to obtain within 90 days
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record
- Basic welding skills
- Ability to read and write in English
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds climb ladders kneel crawl and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Willingness to complete OSHA 10 and MSHA certifications
