Base Salary:

$51708

Performance Pay:

Available annually

New hire experience:

1 of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement up to a fiveyear maximum

New hire education:

1 of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

OVERVIEW

To oversee and provide direction to employees in the food service operation at the central kitchen elementary schools and programs serviced out of the central kitchen; to monitor assigned personnel to ensure jobs are performed in a safe and efficient manner and food preparation practices meet safety and sanitation standards; to ensure prepared foods meet USDA nutritional requirements department quality standards and are served in a manner that is pleasing to the customer.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum High school education with additional course work in food service management and/or nutrition preferred
  • Valid Arizona drivers license with proof of insurance and ability and willingness to drive own vehicle to various locations.
  • Three years experience in school food service highly recommended
  • Valid Maricopa County Environmental Services issued Certified Food Service Managers card or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • Working knowledge of largescale food production quantity cooking inventory management and ability to accurately forecast menu needs
  • Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word Excel Email etc) and ability to train assigned personnel in the use of these programs
  • Experience in personnel management conflict resolution and preparation of accurate documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to plan and conduct staff meetings.
  • Willingness to participate in professional growth activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create a positive environment to provide quality customer service and retention of food service staff
  • Direct food service workers and other personnel as assigned to maximize the efficiency of the work force and to meet labor requirements
  • Implement menu plans to meet USDAs National School Lunch and Breakfast requirements
  • May Inspect received items of food and/or supplies to verify quantity quality and specifications of orders when needed
  • Order and inventory food and supplies to maintain adequate quantities and security of items
  • Oversee safety and sanitation procedures to maintain standards required by Maricopa County Environmental Services.
  • Oversee the preparation of food and beverage items to meet projected meal requirements and nutritional components
  • Perform functions as required of another position within area of responsibility to provide overall coverage of food service operation
  • Prepare documentation (e.g. production reports payroll evaluations audits inventory etc. to provide written support and/or convey information
  • Respond to inquiries of student district personnel and the public to provide information
  • Supervise site operations (e.g. catered alternative sites etc. to provide safe and efficient food services in compliance with USDA and Maricopa County Environmental Services requirements
  • Train and evaluate job performance of assigned personnel to achieve success in the child nutrition program
  • Assist managers in the resolution of Human Resource issues
  • Provide training and oversight of all special diets in assigned area
  • Train managers and employees on all districtbased computer systems TCP Talent Ed Synergy etc.
  • Train assigned personnel in the computerized point of sale program to maintain accurate financial records
  • Conduct sitebased audits to ensure accuracy of the counting and claiming of reimbursable meals
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
