Position Summery
We are seeking an Information Security intern to assist our security team in protecting our organizations data systems and infrastructure from cyber threats. This handson role provides valuable experience in financial sector cybersecurity while contributing to our security posture and regulatory compliance initiatives.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with security monitoring and incident response activities.
- Help conduct vulnerability assessments and security testing.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of security controls.
- Participate in security awareness and training initiatives for employees.
- Assist with documentation of security policies procedures and standards.
- Help prepare materials for security compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Support the team with security research and threat intelligence gathering.
- Aid in the review and assessment of thirdparty vendor security.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degrees Diplomas & Certifications:
- Enrolled in a postsecondary program in Computer Science Information Technology Cybersecurity or a related field
Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:
- Basic understanding of information security concepts and principles.
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows Linux) and basic networking concepts.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Selfmotivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in financial security and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST ISO 27001.
- Familiarity with security tools (firewalls IDS/IPS SIEM).
- Basic scripting or programming experience.
- Understanding of Canadian financial regulations and privacy laws.
- Previous coursework or projects related to cybersecurity.
