The Manitoba Mtis Federation(MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Mtisalso known as the Manitoba Mtis. The Red River Mtis are a distinct IndigenousNation and People and Canadas Negotiating Partners in Confederation and theFounders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill onefulltime Community Navigator position within our Health & Wellness Departmentlocated at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg MB. The Community Navigator provides support advocacy andcommunity navigation for Mtis Citizens in need.
Job Duties/Competencies:
Identify social medical economic recreational and educational services in the community that will meet clients needs;
Recognize potential crisis and emergency situations and accurately develop strategies to deal with such situations;
Provide input to other professionals with regard to the development of client program plans;
Maintain liaison with other agencies professionals government officials and the community;
Assist Mtis Citizens in identifying barriers to accessing resources and support them in overcoming these;
Encourage and facilitate the participation of individuals in the program.
Skills and Qualifications:
Undergraduate/Graduate Degree Social or Health Science Social Work Social Service or relevant field and/or equivalent experience and training may be considered;
Experience in community outreach work community support advocacy and community navigation etc.;
Experience in program development and facilitation reporting and case management;
Strong organizational interpersonal and time management skills;
Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint;
Experience working for a notforprofit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
Knowledge of Mtis culture MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and
Ability to travel valid Manitoba Drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle.
