Are you ready to start a fulfilling career in environmental protection with the Commonwealth The Department of Environmental Protection Permit Section is seeking a dedicated individual for the Environmental Engineering Trainee position someone who is committed to preserving the health of Pennsylvanias residents and its stunning landscapes. In this role you will leverage your strong analytical abilities to assess NPDES permit applications mandated by the Federal Clean Water Act as well as Water Quality Management permit applications required by the Pennsylvania Clean Streams Law. You will engage in an extensive 12month training program designed to equip you with the skills necessary for the role of Environmental Engineering Specialist. This program will combine formal instruction with handson experience enabling you to effectively fulfill your responsibilities and advance the goals of the Clean Water Program.
You will play a crucial role in evaluating applications for NPDES Permits mandated by the Clean Water Act (CWA) and the Pennsylvania Clean Streams Law. Your responsibilities will also include monitoring the discharge of treated wastewater into Pennsylvania streams to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. A key aspect of your position will involve drafting deficiency letters that include regulatory citations. Furthermore you will be tasked with reviewing tracking and completing outreach related to various stormwater initiatives.
