HIRING SALARY RANGE: $100277.00 $112812.00 per annum

MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE: $125346.00 per annum

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

The Recreation Facility Supervisor is responsible for managing the day to day activities related to facility operations and recreation programming and customer service at an assigned facility/group of facilities. This role is also responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a team of full time and part time staff through coaching goal setting performance management recruiting hiring training and professional development. The Recreation Facility Supervisor role takes part in support of the City strategy of enhancing quality of life through excellence in the delivery of recreational activities. The Recreation Facility Supervisor reports to the District Manager Recreation.

Direct Reports

Responsible for the Supervision of the following staff:

  • Operations: Operations Coordinator Facility General Operators PartTime Operations Staff
  • Programing (Aquatics General Active Living/Fitness): Program Coordinator Programmers PartTime Programming Staff
  • Administration: Facility Clerks PartTime Customer Service Representatives

Supervisory & Team Leadership

  • Applies sound human resources management practices and is responsible for the safety of staff volunteers and customers delivering and participating in programs and services with Recreation.
  • Incorporating and strengthening collaboration and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Manage coach and provide guidance to promote effective full and parttime employee relations and encourage increased morale innovation and productivity to meet business needs.
  • Manage the daytoday supervision including planning/scheduling work distribution/followup training/coaching and monitoring of work conditions.
  • Responsible for Human Resources administration including recruitment of full time and part time staff compensation performance evaluations progressive discipline and dismissal.

Community Development

  • Direct delivery of programming and services through program teams to meet the needs of the communities (schools special events provincial programs).
  • Partnership engagement establishment and management to foster program development and delivery to address community needs.
  • Implement outreach services to the surrounding community and establish a presence within the community.
  • Supports the Community Development and Partnership team with divisional initiatives

Customer Service

  • Develop and implement a customer service plan to ensure quality service to users maintaining the corporate image and ensuring that the business programs and services are profiled in a positive manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders with demonstrated interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy with diverse stakeholders.
  • Provides input to the development and implementation of service standards policies and procedures for the Recreation Division.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of programming policies and standards to ensure that highquality programs are available to all residents of Brampton with a focus on community development and outreach to all neighbourhoods.
  • Provides strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills to assess multiple issues emergency situations complex projects that lead to the development of resolution options decision and implementation of decision necessary of efficient and effective operations and customer resolution.
  • Ability to effectively respond to and resolve complex complaints and problems.
  • Put in place processes training action plans and followup processes to respond effectively to emergencies and incidents.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents managing critical care response and followup with staff volunteers customers management and emergency teams.

Quality Assurance

  • Reporting and following up on all incidents accidents property damage and theft ensuring that the business and practices conform to relevant policies procedures and legislation.
  • Develop implement and manage maintenance resources and establish systems for the preventative maintenance demand maintenance equipment maintenance health and safety energy management security asset management housekeeping management and quality assurance.
  • Accountable for the compliance monitoring implementation and management of processes and systems to ensure standards policies and reporting requirements are adhered to and maintained

Business Development

  • Tracks trends and use knowledge management practices best practices changing community needs to ensure appropriate service delivery.
  • Accountable to manage business and marketing plans operating budgets financial systems and revenue generation while working with internal department staff and external community resources.
  • Develop work plans and allocate resources to ensure programs and services meet community needs and revenue projects are achieved.
  • Provide timely communication and input on capital and operating budgets
  • Monitor monthly capital and operating budgets and make recommendations when required.
  • Ability to manage control and monitor multiple budget and allocate assets and resources
  • Prepare various reports and present to elected officials and leadership team
  • Participate in related corporate projects and initiatives ensuring the needs of recreation are represented and the skills from the division are offered and applied.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

EDUCATION:

  • University degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline;

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience preferably in a unionized environment.

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Ability to understand and react to financial statements including budgets;
  • Excellent public relations skills and ability to effectively deal with the public;
  • Ability to lead coach motivate discipline and develop employees;
  • Able to successfully develop lead and work within a customerservice oriented team environment;
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships within the division and organization;
  • Welldeveloped time management and organization skills;
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation;
  • Marketing skills and business experience in a leadership role;
  • Proficiency in MS Office Perfect Mind or related registration and booking software
