The Communications Manager will work with the University Health and Wellbeing communications and health promotion team to promote and protect department reputation. Develop and execute health promoting communication strategies campaigns publications and other materials for Health Promotion and Engagement campaigns programs services initiatives and events. This includes but not limited to the MSU Student Food Bank Sexual Wellness WorkLife Wellbeing Alcohol and Other Collegiate Recovery Community SPARTANfit and Spartan Resilience Education.
Conduct research interviews and gather information to create edit and produce a range of communication materials including news releases social media posts newsletters emails talking points promotional pieces reports etc. for both print and electronic media targeting specific audiences. Partner with communication colleagues to guide development of audio videos graphics etc. ensuring accessibility content accuracy readability and alignment with established style guidelines.
Stay informed about news and trends related to the field monitoring various publications and electronic sources for information relevant to the departments activities. Occasionally represent UHW and/or present to targeted audiences at events professional organizations industry gatherings and community functions to enhance the units visibility and engagement.
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a fouryear college degree program in Journalism Telecommunications or Public Relations; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in public and media relations composing editing and publication production news broadcasting and print media and/or marketing advertising and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or computer programming/technology; experience managing content for social media channels; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in health or public health communications preferred health education experience or experience as a communicator in public health health promotion or healthcare.

This position will be onsite in east Lansing 3 days per week; remote work is provided a maximum of 2 nonconsecutive days per week.
