Job Description

Position overview:

The Department of Mathematics along with Extended Studies invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor to coordinate and support concurrent enrollment mathematics instruction in local high schools teach college mathematics and deliver secondary mathematics outreach for the University to broad audiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Outreach & Recruitment 30
  • Lead high school math events with special emphasis on rural and varied settings.
  • Coordinate Boise States Annual Math Invitational for secondary students
  • Organize and support outreach and recruitment events for University math
Concurrent Enrollment 50
  • Conduct teaching observations of high school CE math instructors
  • Provide professional learning and consulting to support high school CE math instructors
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to improve the concurrent enrollment curriculum
  • Build and maintain an understanding of CE principles and standards
  • Support evaluation reporting and continuous improvement of the CE math program
Teaching 20
  • Teach one oncampus math class per semester (e.g. Math
Performance Indicators
  • Sustained math department capacity for concurrent enrollment and outreach
  • Increased college math enrollment from local high school graduates
  • High satisfaction among stakeholders
  • Strong indicators of quality concurrent enrollment instruction
Supervision & Oversight

The direct supervisor will be the chair of the Mathematics Department and the director of Concurrent Enrollment.

Department overview:

The Department of Mathematics is in the College of Arts and Sciences and currently offers a Masters degree of Mathematics with emphasis on pure mathematics applied mathematics and statistics and Bachelors degrees with emphasis on applied & computational mathematics cryptologic mathematics mathematics education statistics and theoretical mathematics. Additionally our department is a lead department in the interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Computing program which has emphases in computational math science and engineering computer science cybersecurity and data science.

The mission of the Department of Mathematics is to advance scholarship through teaching research and community engagement with a commitment to supporting persons of diverse backgrounds in an inclusive environment. We foster skills and understanding that empower students to succeed academically and contribute to society. We expand the frontiers of knowledge in mathematics and related disciplines. Salary and Benefits:

Salary starts at $54000 and is commensurate with experience. 9 month contract)
