Job Description

The Fixed Income Research Associate will work primarily in the municipal bond universe providing fundamental analysis of various credits. The Investment analysis performed will include interpreting market data trends and economic forecasts. Cash flow modeling and financial reporting analysis are essential. The Fixed Income Research Associate will assist senior analysts with crafting and implementing investment theses.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze individual municipal credits interpret market and industry trends and examine specified market sector activity to provide information and analysis required in the investment decisionmaking process.

  • Complete fundamental analysis on specific municipal credits and create/update investment models with specific issuer information income statements/ balancesheet numbers and market trend data. Based on analysis make recommendations and articulate those buy sell hold recommendations with senior investment staff.

  • Research and recommend new sources of information to more senior investment staff.

  • Contribute to credit analysis and/or analysis of classes of securities market trends yield and duration relationships and pricing trends between different fixedincome sectors.

  • Assist in various functions that support the whole credit research team such as compiling research data on holdings.

  • May support more than one investment strategy team; foster relationships with various portfolio management teams to effectively do so.

  • All functions must be performed in the context of the unique clientdefined investment strategy and the work contributes to the strategys successful performance and the Companys ability to raise assets. The investment analysis performed include fundamental analysis of individual municipal credits and interpreting market data trends and economic forecasts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required; May hold advanced degree and/or CFA designation or progress towards either.

  • Typically has 35 years of experience in dedicated investment analysis experience in the municipal market.

  • Superior organizational and analytic skills to complete detailed fundamental analysis. Ability to construct investment models to identify and track value added securities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver reviews and recommendations. Ability to articulate highly technical information with conviction.

  • Sense of judgment and selfdiscipline in order to evaluate multiple opportunities and make appropriate investment decisions.

  • Strong understanding of business and economics in order to research target companies and determine potentially profitable investments.

  • Ability to work well with multiple levels of internal and external contacts; strong communications skills to effectively convey recommendations & rationale.

  • Good understanding of business and economics in order to research target credits and recommend potentially profitable investments.

  • Coding abilities a plus.

  • Experience analyzing High Yield Municipal credits a plus

Salary range is expected to be between

$76000.00 USD $127000.00 USD
