Quality Staffing Inc. also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search a leading fullservice employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the areas top companies is seeking an experienced Grounds Worker to work through our agency as a contract employee with the State of Tennessee School for the Blind (TN TSB) located in Nashville TN. This is anonsite position working from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. The pay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour.
Grounds Worker Job Description:
The Grounds Worker will perform semiskilled work in the maintenance care and modification of campus grounds and landscapes under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. The work includes the operation of electrically powered and gasoline powered groundskeeping equipment and machines the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in planting cultivating and trimming grounds and landscaping. The Grounds Worker will also perform maintenance on groundskeeping equipment and tools will change light bulbs pressure wash surfaces paint walls woodwork furniture and equipment make minor carpentry plumbing and electrical repairs and deliver supplies materials and equipment as needed.
Grounds Worker Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Mow lawns and trim grass around walks flower beds and walls
- Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth
- Remove damaged leaves branches and twigs using mowers tractors and other hand and power tools
- Collect and dispose of outside trash and garbage
- Provide proper upkeep of hard surfaces storm drains and other ground features
- Lay out and ten flower beds and other decorative vegetation
- Plant fertilize water and use herbicides and insecticides to maintain grass flowers trees and shrubs
- Remove snow and ice from walks and driveways
- Spread salt pick up litter rake and remove leaves from campus
- Maintain driveways and parking lots
- Repair fences gates walls irrigation systems walks and outbuildings using carpentry masonry pressure washers and painting tools
- Operate trucks and tractors in grounds preparation and maintenance work
- Assist with maintenance and repairs of equipment all buildings structures and grounds
- Assist with plumbing masonry carpentry painting and minor electrical work
- Arrange facilities for special events and check for safety hazards
- Attend training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated
- Comply with all campus safety policies and procedures
- Apply all applicable OSHA and related safety requirements to all assigned work
- Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner
- Perform related tasks as required
Experience and Qualifications Required for Grounds Worker position:
- Graduate of an accredited high school or equivalent.
- Experience equivalent to one year of fulltime labor and trades work including some routine grounds maintenance work.
- General knowledge of tools materials and quipment used in general grounds and/or maintenance work.
- Knowledge of safety precautions applicable to operating grounds and/or maintenance equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
- Valid Tennessee drivers license.
- This is medium to heavy work requiring the exertion of 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 20 pounds of force constantly.
- Work requires climbing balancing stooping reaching standing walking pushing lifting and grasping.
- Verbal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas.
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal and high noise levels.
- Visual activity is required for use in measuring devices operation of machines and operation of motor vehicles or equipment.
- This position will be subject to inside and outside environmental conditions; tasks are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
