Cameron House is a 150 year old communitybased institution that is deeply woven into San Francisco history and rooted in faithbased outreach and support. We proudly hold the honor of serving the evolving needs of the San Francisco Chinese community. Cameron House is a hub of yearround programs and services. These programs include our heritage youth school adult ESL and computer classes counseling services in English Cantonese and Mandarin domestic violence intervention and case management for accessing all of the San Francisco area community resources available for low to moderate income individuals and families. We empower community members to build strength and resilience through familycentered programs and help people learn heal and thrive.


SUMMER YOUTH ADVENTURE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

We offer an 8week summer program experience for elementary and middle school students aimed to enrich the lives of our communitys youth. We work to advance academic performance and social and emotional health; and we do this through facilitated and supervised activities and lessons in the classroom outdoors through recreation and community service. We immerse youth in a variety of handson growth opportunities and direct learning experiences that aim to position them for success in their academic vocational and personal pursuits. This program enhances participants abilities for critical thinking creative problem solving effective and positive socialization and perseverance. Most importantly we foster curiosity healthy relationship building skills a passion for learning a commitment to service and shared meaning within the community.


JOB SUMMARY

Reports to the Director of Youth Programs and works as a member for the Programs Department. Responsibilities include: designing and planning daily lessons and activities; ensuring best practices and procedures are followed as it relates to maintaining spaces equipment training and the supervision of youth; and caring for the safety and security of youth cohorts.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design eight 8 weeks of high quality lessons and activities for a group of 1020 similarlyaged youth
  • Align daily lesson plans with facilitated interactive multimodal instructions and activities
  • Ensure the safety and security of individuals through effective and thoughtful program design supervision and facilitation
  • Assess monitor and document individuals progress.
  • Collaborate with staff supervisors volunteers and community members
  • Supervise and facilitate recess and lunch time periods
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor at all times
  • Be open and willing to be observed by an outside agency from time to time
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements
  • Required: Bachelors degree or combination of formal education and equivalent experience.
  • Required: At least one 1 year of direct experience facilitating formal and informal teaching for elementary or middle school students
  • Required: Demonstrated experience and practice in studentcentered and developmentally appropriate curriculum
    • Examples include: thematic teaching projectbased work critical thinking skill development creative problemsolving and cooperative learning
  • Required: Experience working with Google Workspace Microsoft Office (i.e. Microsoft Word ExcelPowerpoint) and Zoom
  • Preferred: Have an educational degree in the field of education child development social work recreation or related field
  • Preferred: Working knowledge and experience with restorative justice philosophy and methods

IMPORTANT!

All candidates must fulfill the following requirements upon being hired:

  • Undergo a criminal background check and achieve satisfactory clearance from the Department of Justice via Live Scan
  • Undergo a screening for tuberculosis
  • Complete a AntiHarassment Prevention training
  • Undergo First 1st) Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training and achieve certification of completion

JOB TYPE

  • Seasonal Regular FullTime Nonexempt
  • In Person (no hybrid or remote work options)
  • Expected hours: Forty 40 per week

SCHEDULE

Program dates are June 16 August 8 2025

  • June 7 Orientation
  • June 9 13 Professional Development/Training/ Preparation Week
    • 9:30 AM 4:30 PM and TBD 35 hours for this week.
  • June 16 August 8 Regular Work Week
    • Monday Friday 9:00 AM 5:00 PM
    • No program on 6/19/25 and 7/4/25
    • NOTE: The daily schedule will be determined by the Director of Youth Programs on a weektoweek basis.
    • Some evening hours may be required to attend special events such as the Summer Showcase.
  • August 11 Evaluation CleanUp and Closing Celebration

COMPENSATION

As a financial steward of public funds Cameron House is committed to pay equity and transparency. Cameron House offers competitive base salaries aligned with the market midpoint for notforprofit organizations of similar size. To maintain this commitment Cameron House does not negotiate salary offers; instead each offer is carefully calculated using benchmarking data. This is an nonexempt (hourly) role with a pay range of $24.30$29.70 an hour.
