    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Maintains an uptodate infield certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission; salary and length of contract to be established by the Board of Education.

    PRIMARY FUNCTION: Plan for and provide appropriatelearning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the classroom based on Georgia Standards and the CSD Framework for Equitable Student Outcomes and provide a classroom environment that aligns with City Schools of Decturs commitment to equity ensuring that all students are safe seen and successful .


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

    • Performs such classroom teaching and other duties related to the school program as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal or designee.

    • Keeps current on educational research trends and practices through continued professional development.

    • Sets longterm and shortterm goals for student growth and achievement based on the standards for assigned courses monitors progress towards meeting goals.

    • Communicates collaborates and cooperates with colleagues supervisors and students

    • Demonstrates command of school subject(s) being taught.

    • Develops and annually updates a course syllabus for parents and students that includes: list of Georgia Standards being taught in the course a course calendar with instructional units assessments and major projects grading protocol tutoring hours and list of all curriculum resources being used in the class.

    • Developslesson plans that are aligned to the Georgia Standards and ensures instructional materials are aligned to the Georgia Standards and makes lesson plans available to administrator.

    • Provides small group and individualized instruction to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of each studentl.

    • Plans and implements developmentally appropriate interactive learning experiences.

    • Communicates regularly with parents/caretakers to report on student progress on the Georgia Standards including but not limited to outside the normal classroom day by means of class newsletters notes telephone calls conferences emails websites etc.

    • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere in alignment with the local school PBIS protocol.

    • Monitors students progress in learning through a variety of techniques on a regular basis and maintains records for report cards and / or parent conferences.

    • Provides lesson appropriate lesson plans for daily substitute teachers and longterm substitute teachers.

    • Identifies student needs develops strategies for small groups and/or individual education plans implements any needed Tier I and Tier II interventions and makes appropriate referrals through the schools student support model.

    • Is available to students and parents/caretakers for educationrelated purposes outside the instructional day including PTA events family engagement events.

    • Participates in professional learning to increase skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities and serves on committees when needed.

    • Provides assessments that measure student achievement of objectives.

    • Utilizes technology effectively to plan teach and assess.

    • Evaluates selects and modifiesresources and activities to match learners needs and meet the curriculum standards.

    • Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent

    • Participates in daily duties and responsibilities within the school including extracurricular responsibilities.

    • Supports the district and local school vision mission and goals in words actions and behaviors.

    • Complies with the Georgia Code of Ethics for Educators.

    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Additional Essential Duties Physical Education Teacher
    • Required to Coach at least 1 sportin academic year
    • Develops and administers Physical Education classes consistent with school district goals and objectives.
    • Teaches knowledge of and develops skills and abilities in physical fitness rhythm and dance coordination and agility exercise and sports
    • Develops students concepts in leadership teamwork responsibility and social skills; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and appropriate feedback to regarding student progress expectations and goals.
    • Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical educational activities and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students needs including students with special needs.
    • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars workshops or professional meetings or by conducting research.
    • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete recordkeeping grading and reporting for all student activities achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
    • Assists in coordinating extracurricular activities including student performances assembles and athletic events.
    • Encourages parental involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
    • Ensures that student conduct conforms to the schools standards and school district policies and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
    • Coordinates with other professional staff members especially within physical education and grade level and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
    • Selects and requisitions appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
    • Inspects equipment and field areas used to ensure they are in good and safe working order.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Supervises classroom students paraprofessional (if applicable) and volunteers.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelors degree in applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC)approved college or university required. Must have a valid infield teaching certificate. Previous teaching experience preferred.


    EVALUATION:

    Performance of this job shall be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the boards policy on evaluation of certified personnel.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    To perform the duties of this job the employee is required to stand walk sit or hear. Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required on an occasional basis. The employee is occasionally required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision and distance vision
