Marcella LeBeau Elementary is opening its doors in the fall of 2025 and were seeking passionate energetic educators to join our dynamic teaching and learning community! Be part of a collaborative team dedicated to empowering students with the support guidance and encouragement of the SFSD family throughout your career.

Two years of post high school education or higher or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota for designated Education Assistant positions.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience with behavior management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands of this job include general activity such as sitting standing walking bending squatting kneeling pushing and pulling throughout the school day. The position requires carrying and lifting of body weight and/or objects/equipment as well as pushing/pulling forces of individuals in wheelchairs and adaptive devices from1 to 40 pounds continuously 4060 pounds frequently and from 60 to 99 pounds occasionally. Must be able to pass a preemployment physical if new hires (including transfers).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must demonstrate and pass safety competency review on a yearly basis.

PAY INFORMATION
Level G* starting at $19.85/hour
Pay Day: Last working day of each month.
Please note this is based on the 202425 salary schedule. 202526 salary schedule coming soon!
*This position earns the Education Assistant differential pay. Each position that qualifies for the Education Assistant differential pay earns an additional $2 per hour.
HOURS & FTE
Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 3:00 pm with a 30minute unpaid break
0.875 FTE 35 hours per week 9 months

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
- Assists students in accessing transportation.
- Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs (e.g. toileting feeding physical management) in accordance with established safety competencies.
- Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups in special education classroom and/or regular classroom.
- Works with students in schools and in community sites.
- Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
- Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives with children as directed by the teacher/therapist.
- Provides assistance to maintaining student records (charting assignments attendance data for progress notes).
- Monitors identified student(s) in lunchroom/on playground.
- Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
- Assists with management of student behavior.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
