Who are we looking for
GHDsTailings and Mine waste services we are looking for an experiencedTechnical Director Geotechnical Engineeringbased inWesternCanada to be a technical leader within our existingGeotechnicalteam. GHD has a significant profile in tailings management and mine waste services for Tier 1 mining clients. We have an integrated team across Australia North America and South America.
As a Technical Leader in Geotechnical you will be responsible for technical direction of project teams and working within the wider GHD global geotechnical community on projects for tailings storage facility planning investigation and design.
You will have a detailed knowledge of industry guidelines and be connected into networks across the industry. You will have a broad range of geotechnical experience.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Provide technical leadership and guidance often in multidisciplinary teams for planning feasibility studies and detailed design project phases
- Work with the team to win work successfully deliver projects and attract staff to GHD
- Geotechnical design including foundations embankment dam stability hydraulic analysis water balance deposition planning groundwater analysis
- Manage projects including scope schedule budgets amendments risk and quality.
- Scope and lead geotechnical investigations
- Undertake safety inspections and risk assessments
- Provide planning and operational advice to our clients
- Develop client relationships both nationally and internationally using your established networks.
- Ongoing compliance with GHDs Quality Environmental Management and Occupational Health Safety & Rehabilitation Systems.
- Manage projects including scope schedule budgets amendments risk and quality.
- Work directly with our team in the Americas and be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally as required for short periods with projects.
- Work with other leaders globally to collaborate in delivery of projects
- Mentor and train other GHD staff
- Ongoing compliance with GHDs Quality Environmental Management and Occupational Health Safety & Rehabilitation Systems.
What you bring to the team:
- Degree in Engineering (Civil or Geotechnical)
- Registered . in Canada
- Substantial experience in tailings dams and mine waste engineering ideally in a consulting environment and relevant postgraduate qualifications are preferred.
Salary range: $130240 to 195360
