Job Description

Childrens Harbor is looking for an Infant Toddler Behavior Consultant to join our Community Training & Professional Development Team! This grant position is available through a subaward from Child Development position is available now and will be open until filled.The Virginia Infant and Toddler Specialist Network is supported by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award totaling $with 100 funded by ACF/HHS. POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Infant Toddler Behavior Consultant (ITBC) will increase caregivers/teachers/directors and families use of strategies and practices to promote the social emotional development of infants and toddlers and address challenging behaviors. This position is sponsored by a grant from VDOE. The ITBC will work under the supervision of the Community Training & Professional Development Director. The Southeastern Regional Office for the Virginia Infant Toddler Specialist Network (VA ITSN)

Summary of QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a childrelated field or field related to the provision of mental health consultation is required. Masters degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three years of direct service which includes at least one year of direct work with infants and toddlers; a minimum of one year of experience working with adults (e.g. training mentoring or leading caregivers/teachers); At least 25 hours of previously delivered training experience; and an early intervention background preferred. Other: Strong base knowledge in child growth and development including socialemotional development in children birth to three.

Must possess the capacity to plan and conduct training for adults.Candidate will need to be able to attend or conduct training in the evening or during weekends as needed.

Must possess knowledge of best practices to provide a familycentered approach to consultation.

Must possess the necessary knowledge and abilities in technology including proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite videoconferencing Zoom OneDrive etc. as described in the detailed job description.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • Perform administrative duties and responsibilities related but not limited to: managing timelines managing caseloads entering and utilizing data maintaining records/databases recruitment of new programs etc.
  • Complete training and reliability requirements for Ages and StagesQuestionnaires Third Edition (ASQ3 Ages and Stages Questionnaires Social Emotional Second Edition (ASQ: SE2 Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers Revised with FollowUp (MCHATR/F) The Pyramid InfantToddler Observation Scale (TPITOS) Parenting Interactions with Children: Checklist of Observations Linked to Outcomes (PICCOLO); Language Environment Analysis (LENA) and Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS)
  • Maintain certifications for CLASS PICCOLO and TPITOS
  • Work with community stakeholders I/T caregivers directors owners and families to provide ITS services.
  • Coaching provide consultation on promoting the social emotional development of infants and toddlers that include ensuring that the parents or family of the infant or toddler are informed of screening options.
  • Training and Technical Assistance provide training on implementing strategies for promoting the social emotional development of infants and toddlers andtraining or technical assistance on the screening of infants and toddlers on aclassroom or family day home level and the program/director level.
  • Provide training on topics using the finalized ITBC Social Emotional Professional Competency Training Plan that prepares caregivers teachers and directors topromote the social emotional development of infants and toddlers and topics to support the wellbeing of infant and toddler caregivers teachers and directors in order to better support the needs of the children in their care.
  • Provide technical assistance with using particular screening tools where needed.
  • Provide resources for child/family referrals following screenings where applicable.
